COVID-19 Updates

April 28:

Dear NHCA students and parents,

Well it is official now. The governor announced that Minnesota schools will continue their distance learning through the end of this school year. While I was really hoping that we might return next week, that did not happen. I am reminded of Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.”

Let me just take a moment to say how proud I am of you all! The feedback I have been receiving from your teachers is absolutely encouraging. You are completing assignments and continuing to have forbearance! You are honoring your parents, your teachers, and the Lord. I ask you to continue to preserver and finish strong. As Hebrews 12:1c says: “and run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.”

The staff still has many details to work through regarding the ending of the school year. Teachers will continue to provide online instruction through Friday, May 22. This means all lessons will end on May 22.

The following week, May 25 – 29, will be teachers’ work-days to prepare for the end of the school year.

Monday, June 1 through Wednesday, June 3 will be set aside to return NHCA curriculum and equipment and pick up your yearbook and personal belongings. Please note that all dropping off and picking up will be scheduled and handled in an orderly and safe manner.

I will definitely keep you informed as decisions are made. Details will be sent to you as soon as they are finalized.

I just want to say what a privilege it is to serve you all! Just thinking of the children in this school brings a smile to my face. I love you all and am praying for you.

God bless you richly!
Mr. Taylor

NHCA will start the Learn from Home Program on Tuesday, March 31. We are prepared to continue this program until May 4, as was directed by Governor Walz. As you all know, information can change as we progress through these five weeks. We will continue to update you should there be any changes.

Information on the Learn from Home Program will be sent on Monday, March 30. The NHCA staff will be meeting that day via teleconference to confirm they are ready to go.

Mr. Taylor is working out the details to broadcast daily via NHCA Facebook live. More to come on this.

Please let your children know that we miss them! We miss their laughter in the halls and the smiles on their faces. Our God is in control and we take great confidence that we will see them soon

March 18, 2020

On this first day of North Heights Christian Academy’s (early) spring break, we want to share a few updates with you.
. We are so proud of our NHCA community. The students have responded in such a peaceful way. It is evident they are being led by the Holy Spirit and they know what it looks like to carry God’s peace inside of them.
2. In an effort to best plan for a “Learn from Home” model, we ask for time to do just that. We know there are many questions. We would like to take the next three days to plan what after Spring Break looks like. Thanks for your patience. Most students brought everything they need home and there is no need to come into school.
3. Our building is open and teachers are preparing to have any “extra” needed materials ready to be picked-up this Friday 12:00 – 3:00 PM. Your child’s teacher will contact you if there is a need to pick-up materials.
4. Middle School students are free to drop off any assignments (follow teacher’s instructions) Wednesday – Friday.

You can trust that we will communicate what we have in place as soon as the details are worked out. We are beyond grateful for your grace, encouragement, and continued prayers as we work together to respond to the COVID-19 situation.

March 15, 2020

As you know, we are facing a global health situation caused by the outbreak of COVID-19. We believe it is our call to respond proactively with prayer and action in order to care for one another in the name of Jesus. North Heights Christian Academy is continuing to respond to the latest guidance regarding the prevention of the virus from spreading in our communities.

Based on today’s recommendations, NHCA will be open for regular classes on Monday and Tuesday. We will be closed from Wednesday, March 18, 2020 until Friday, March 27, 2020 in order to give our teachers time to plan for classes resuming on Monday, March 30, 2020.

At this current time, it has yet to be determined if classes will resume with face to face learning or distance learning. We will be monitoring all information from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education to assist us in the direction we are to take. Our staff is current developing plans for the potential of transitioning to distance learning should conditions warrant.

These are unprecedented times and we ask for your continued prayers as we look to make the best decisions for our entire community. We are confident we will get through this together and will come out better for it on the other side.
